On my first drive across Canada (June 1970 from Montreal to Vancouver) I was ASTONISHED at the EXHORBITANT price of gasoline in Wawa, Ontario. It was the highest of my whole trip. $0.50 an Imperial Gallon! That’s about .11 a litre!! It was, I think, about 0.29 in Montreal at the time!
Forty-one years later, I am STILL ASTONISHED (but not surprised) at the price. It’s $1.43 a litre. Put THAT in your gas tank and smoke it. (Well, maybe not such a good idea.)
Other trivial details….
June – 1970 – First drive west for me. Red Triumph Spitfire – convertible – 4-wheels. 1,048cc inline 4-cyl. motor.

June – 2011 – lost count how many times I’ve driven across – think it’s about 15 one-way or the other. Red Honda ST1100 – kinda a convertible but I can’t get the top up – 2-wheels. 1,085 cc V4-cyl. motor
